Minimum Requirements
  • Grade 12 / Matric (advantageous)
  • Post-matric qualification in a recognized trade (advantageous)
  • 35 years in maintenance / handyman role. Must be able to use various machinery, tools and products for maintenance of the equipment, building, and property
  • Must have a Code 8 drivers license and own vehicle
  • Computer Literacy (advantageous)
  • Strong attention to detail and high work standards
  • Adaptable, flexible, and observant
  • Problem-solving ability and strong time management
  • Able to follow instructions and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Good interpersonal skills with a positive attitude
  • Physically fit, with ability to climb ladders and handle equipment
  • Knowledge of health and safety requirements
  • Competence in using power tools and basic carpentry / electrical skills
  • Security-conscious
  • Clear Criminal Record
Responsibilities include (but not limited to)
  • Carry out repairs and maintenance on buildings, equipment, and office furniture.
  • Proactively identify maintenance needs and take corrective action.
  • Ensure safety standards are met across facilities and grounds.
  • Assist with monthly vehicle inspections and servicing.
  • Oversee landscaping, gardening, and irrigation systems.
  • Manage suppliers, contractors, and maintenance consumables.
  • Keep accurate records of expenses and maintenance activities.
Additional Information
  • Full-Time, 40 hours week
  • 12-month Fixed Term Contract
  • Position will be based at the UCT Lung Institute in Mowbray, Cape Town
