Placements24 seeks a highly capable Maintenance Engineer for a major power generation facility in Paarl. You will plan, execute, and oversee mechanical and electrical maintenance to maximise plant availability and efficiency, while implementing predictive and preventative maintenance strategies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• 8+ years in maintenance engineering with at least 4 years in a supervisory/management role in power generation or heavy industry.
• Experience with CMMS and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM).
• Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Knowledge of rotating machinery, power plant systems, and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement maintenance plans for turbines, generators, boilers, and auxiliaries.
• Lead a team of maintenance technicians and supervisors; allocate tasks and drive performance.
• Oversee repair, overhaul, and upgrade of mechanical and electrical components.
• Implement predictive maintenance using vibration analysis and thermography.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance plans for all plant equipment, including turbines, generators, boilers, and auxiliary systems.

• Oversee the repair, overhaul, and upgrade of mechanical and electrical components.
• Implement and monitor predictive maintenance programs using techniques such as vibration analysis and thermography.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in maintenance engineering, with at least 4 years in a supervisory or management role within the power generation or heavy industrial sector.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) or Professional Engineering Technologist (Pr. Tech. Eng.) registration is highly desirable.
• Proven expertise in maintenance planning, CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems), and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM).
• Strong knowledge of rotating machinery, power plant systems, and safety procedures.
