Placements24 is seeking a diligent Maintenance Electrical Technician to ensure the reliable operation of electrical systems at our Mossel Bay facilities. This hands-on role covers preventive maintenance, fault diagnosis, and repairs on a range of industrial equipment.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years in electrical maintenance, a National Diploma or N3 in Electrical Engineering, and be familiar with low- and medium- voltage systems, safety procedures, and documentation.

Qualifications

• National Diploma or N3 in Electrical Engineering or Electrician Trade Test required.
• Minimum 5 years in electrical maintenance in industrial/manufacturing settings preferred.
• Ability to diagnose and repair complex electrical issues with proper testing equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on motors, generators, control panels and lighting.
• Diagnose and repair electrical malfunctions using appropriate testing equipment.
• Install, test and commission new electrical equipment and systems.
• Read electrical schematics, blueprints and manuals to perform repairs and installations.
• Ensure work complies with safety regulations and company policies.
• Maintain records of maintenance activities, repairs and spare parts inventory.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a diligent and skilled Maintenance Electrical Technician to ensure the optimal functioning and reliability of electrical systems and equipment at their facilities in Mossel Bay . This hands-on role is crucial for minimizing downtime and maintaining safe operating conditions. You will be responsible for performing routine maintenance, diagnosing electrical faults, and carrying out repairs on a variety of industrial machinery and electrical installations. The ideal candidate is a practical problem-solver with a strong understanding of electrical systems and a commitment to preventative maintenance strategies, ensuring operational continuity.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on electrical equipment, including motors, generators, control panels, and lighting systems.
• Diagnose and repair electrical malfunctions and breakdowns using appropriate testing equipment and tools.
• Install, test, and commission new electrical equipment and systems.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics , blueprints, and technical manuals to perform repairs and installations.
• Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inventory of spare parts.

Requirements

• National Diploma or N3 in Electrical Engineering or a related trade qualification (e.g., Electrician Trade Test).
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical maintenance, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex electrical problems and perform effective repairs.
• Familiarity with low-voltage and medium-voltage systems .
• Knowledge of safety procedures, including lockout/tagout.
• Strong practical skills and a methodical approach to maintenance tasks.
