Job summary

BCE Foods seeks a hands-on Maintenance Technician in Gauteng to oversee daily upkeep of the building's interior and exterior, performing repairs and scheduled maintenance to keep services running smoothly.

You will handle general maintenance including electrical, plumbing, painting, carpentry; ensure safety standards, manage inventory, and respond to emergencies. A Code 8 license and 2–3 years' experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent required; technical qualifications advantageous.
• Minimum 2–3 years of working maintenance experience.
• Valid Code 8 driver's license.
• Knowledge of OHS Act and ISO 9001 advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Perform general repairs, minor electrical, painting, plumbing, and carpentry tasks.
• Inspect interior and exterior of building and parking areas daily for safety compliance.
• Maintain maintenance inventory and tools; operate generators monthly.
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance plans.
• Respond to emergencies and ad-hoc maintenance requests.

Job description

Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day maintenance and general upkeep of the exterior and interior of the building by carrying out repairs and scheduled, emergency and ad-hoc work according to set standards and ensuring that all building services runs efficient to prevent inconvenience to daily operations.

Duties and responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:

• Responsible for general maintenance functions such as general repair works, minor electrical repairs, painting, attend to leaks and blocked drains, hanging of pictures, performing of general plumbing duties.
• Responsible to ensure floors are in good condition and ensuring that ablution facilities are in working conditions on a daily basis.
• Responsible for undertaking of carpentry duties such as repair and replacement of door locks.
• Emergency lighting and power supply in case of power failures - to be checked and tested regularly.
• Responsible for ensuring proper lighting in the building by replacing all light and ballasts which are not in a working order.
• Ensure work is completed in accordance with the safety guidelines and standards.
• Inspection of interior and exterior of building and parking areas on a daily basis and ensuring adherence to Occupation Health and Safety standards in daily operations
• Developing and implementing preventative maintenance plans
• Maintain all relevant maintenance inventory and equipment and ensure proper storage.
• Maintenance and monthly checking of the generators.
• Other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Requirements

• Grade 12
• Technical Matric advantageous

• Practical exposure in basic tasks of repairs and building maintenance
• Be in possession of a valid code 8 driver’s license
• Knowledge of OHS Act & ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems advantageous
