• Maintain buildings and grounds in collaboration with Facilities Handymen.
• Prioritize and organize own work to maintain internal and external building infrastructure daily.
• Assist with asset transfers and other facilities management tasks as requested by the supervisor.
• Relieve the Driver and Postal/Store man during their absences.
• Adhere to health, safety and environment regulations and organizational policies.

MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT

Permanent Post

Purpose of the Job:

The SAMRC Facilities Management Division requires a skilled experience Maintenance Assistant who will be responsible for the maintenance of the building and grounds at SAMRC Cape Town Office.

Key Responsibilities:

• The Maintenance Assistant will work closely with the Facilities Handymen to maintain the buildings and grounds.
• The Maintenance Assistant will be responsible for prioritizing and organizing own work to maintain internal and external building infrastructure on a daily basis.
• Assist with asset transfers and any other facilities management services as requested by the Facilities Handyman or Supervisor.
• The Maintenance Assistant will perform relieving duties for the Driver and Postal/ Store man in their absence.
• Adhere to health, safety and environment regulations and organizational policies and procedures
• Comply with Occupational Health and Safety requirements and safe working procedures.
• Assist with urgent and emergency maintenance requirements when required.
• Perform any other reasonable maintenance and facilities-related duties assigned by the supervisor.

Added Advantage:

• Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety principles would be advantageous.
• Relevant maintenance-related qualification or trade-related training would be advantageous.
