Blue Pearl HQ is seeking an experienced Mainframe Systems Engineer/zOS Specialist to manage the Mainframe infrastructure in Pretoria. The successful candidate will oversee the operation, implementation, and maintenance of z hardware and z/OS software.

Key responsibilities include managing operational support, performing system monitoring, ensuring disaster recovery, and collaborating with various engineering teams. Strong experience in z/OS, troubleshooting skills, and effective communication are essential for this role.

Qualifications

• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.

• Experience supporting operational stability, upgrades, and DR activities.

Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day operation and support of the Mainframe environment.
• Implement, configure, maintain, and support z hardware and z/OS software.
• Participate in Disaster Recovery planning, testing, and execution activities.
• Work closely with multiple engineering and infrastructure teams.

Skills

Strong experience supporting z/OS Operating Systems

Experience with HCD, TCP/IP, SMP/E, RMF, CICS, MQ

Experience installing and configuring third‑party z/OS products

Strong understanding of Storage Management environments

Experience with DFSMS and DFSMShsm

Experience with BMC Control Products
