Job summary

Accenture in South Africa is seeking an experienced DB2 DBA for z/OS environments to administer BAS systems and support DB2/CICS/VSAM workloads on the mainframe. Responsibilities include release management, tuning, and ensuring high availability for production databases.

You will work in a collaborative team, providing guidance on SQL coding, monitoring performance, and leading database support activities for production and development environments.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience as DB2 DBA or Senior Operator in a z/OS environment.
• Working knowledge of Mainframe (MVS), DB2 for z/OS, Windows OS, SQL, CICS, REXX and JCL.
• Strong database optimization and tuning skills.

Responsibilities

• Authorize TSO user-ids and grant privileges to production databases.
• Monitor production reports and improve throughput of BAS reports.
• Provide end-user support for the MVS environment.
• Identify problems and escalate with lead time to avert crises.
• DB2 performance and tuning suggestions.
• Release management and version control tasks when required.
• Peer review procedural documents.
• Supervise small DBA team if required.
• Attend client meetings and workshops representing the project.
