Job summary

Dante Personnel is sourcing a logistics professional to oversee transportation and distribution activities in Gauteng. The role requires ensuring vehicle availability, coordinating daily logistics planning, and maintaining compliance with safety and signage standards on trucks.

You will collaborate with production, distribution, and sales to meet delivery commitments. The ideal candidate has Matric and a tertiary logistics qualification, at least 5 years in transportation and/or distribution,

Qualifications

• Matric and a tertiary qualification in Logistics are required.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in transportation or distribution, including vehicle maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Ensure vehicles are available when required.
• Manage and maintain daily logistics planning.
• Ensure dangerous goods notices and signage are displayed on trucks.
• Coordinate with production and distribution managers to prioritise transportation needs.
• Communicate with sales staff if delivery commitments cannot be met.
• Conduct spot checks for vehicle cleanliness and PPE compliance.
• Ensure daily vehicle checklists are completed by drivers.
• Report vehicle breakdowns to the Logistics Manager and coordinate repairs.
• Train drivers on the driver manual and update as needed.
• Carry out additional duties assigned by the Logistics Manager.

Minimum requirements:

• Matric
• Tertiary Qualification in Logistics or Logistics qualification
• Minimum of 5 years experience in the transportation and or distribution environment that includes vehicle maintenance

Requirements

• Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
• Computer literate with proficiency in MS Outlook, MS Excel, and MS Word.
• Knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) Act.
• Valid driver's licence.
• Knowledge of legal requirements for transporting dangerous goods.
• Planning, performance management, and time management skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure vehicles are available when required.
• Manage and maintain daily logistics planning.
• Ensure all required dangerous goods notices and signage are available and correctly displayed on trucks.
• Coordinate with production and distribution managers to prioritise transportation needs.
• Communicate with sales staff if delivery commitments cannot be met.
• Conduct spot checks to ensure vehicle cleanliness and correct PPE compliance.
• Ensure drivers complete and submit daily vehicle checklists.
• Report vehicle breakdowns to the Logistics Manager immediately and coordinate with the workshop for repairs.
• Train drivers on the driver manual requirements and review/update the manual when necessary.
• Carry out additional duties assigned by the Logistics Manager.
