Placements24 is seeking a Logistics Planner and Scheduler to optimize transportation and delivery operations in Benoni, Gauteng. You will develop route plans, coordinate carriers, and ensure timely, cost-effective movement of goods across South Africa.

The role requires strong analytical abilities, experience with planning software, and the ability to manage multiple schedules in a hybrid work setting. You will work with internal teams, carriers, and clients to improve service and reduce costs.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Logistics Planner, Scheduler, or similar transportation coordination role.
• Strong understanding of routing optimization and supply chain dynamics.
• Proficiency in logistics planning software and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize daily, weekly, and monthly transportation schedules and route plans.
• Coordinate with internal teams, carriers, and clients to ensure seamless execution of delivery schedules.
• Analyze transportation data to identify inefficiencies, cost-saving opportunities, and service improvements.
• Monitor shipment progress and address delays or issues impacting times or costs.
• Negotiate rates and terms with transportation providers for cost-effectiveness and service quality.
• Maintain records of transportation activities, including shipment details and performance metrics.
• Use logistics planning software to create, manage, and update schedules.
• Collaborate with warehouse operations to ensure efficient loading/unloading.
• Ensure compliance with transportation regulations and safety standards.
• Prepare reports on logistics performance with KPIs.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Logistics Planner, Scheduler, or in a similar transportation coordination role.
• Strong understanding of transportation modes, routing optimization, and supply chain dynamics.
• Proficiency in logistics planning software (e.g., TMS, route optimization tools) and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities.
• Effective communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build relationships with carriers and internal stakeholders.
• A proactive approach to identifying and resolving transportation-related challenges.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid work setting.
• Familiarity with South African transportation regulations is an advantage.
• Relevant qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred.
