Job Overview
The Logistics Operations Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day management and coordination of logistics, warehouse, transport and fleet operations. The role ensures the efficient movement of goods from origin to destination through effective route planning, fleet utilisation, driver coordination, warehouse management, receiving, dispatch and operational planning. The successful candidate must be a hands‑on operational leader who can effectively manage people, vehicles, routes, customer requirements and operational challenges in a fast-paced logistics environment.
Qualifications & Experience
- Grade 12 / Matric required.
- Logistics, Supply Chain, Transport Management, Warehouse Management or Operations qualification will be advantageous.
- Minimum 3–5 years' experience in logistics, warehousing, distribution, transport or supply chain operations.
- Minimum 2 years' supervisory/team‑lead experience.
- Experience managing drivers and operational employees.
- Experience with route planning and transport coordination.
- Experience in fleet management and vehicle utilisation.
- Experience managing receiving, dispatch and warehouse operations.
- Experience working with operational KPIs and productivity targets.
- Experience with GPS/fleet tracking systems will be advantageous.
- Experience with WMS/ERP systems will be advantageous.
- May be required to work shifts, weekends and public holidays depending on operational requirements.
- May be required to work extended hours during peak operational periods.
- Position requires regular movement throughout warehouse, loading, dispatch and operational areas.
- May be required to travel between operational sites where applicable.

Key Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate daily delivery and collection routes.
- Develop efficient routes based on delivery locations, traffic conditions, delivery windows, vehicle capacity and customer requirements.
- Allocate vehicles and drivers according to operational requirements.
- Maximise vehicle utilisation and minimise unnecessary kilometres and empty trips.
- Consolidate deliveries where practical to improve transport efficiency.
- Provide drivers with accurate daily routes, schedules and delivery instructions.
- Supervise and coordinate daily logistics, warehouse and distribution activities.
- Ensure all operational activities are completed according to planned schedules.
- Allocate employees to workstations, tasks and operational areas.
- Conduct daily operational briefings and toolbox talks.
- Ensure effective communication between warehouse, transport, drivers and management.
- Manage operational disruptions and elevate issues where necessary.
- Ensure effective shift handovers are completed.
- Continuously identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs.
