Job summary

PPC Recruitment in Durban is seeking an experienced Logistics Manager to lead the movement, storage and distribution of goods, equipment and medical supplies across the organisation. You will plan, coordinate and oversee end-to-end logistics operations to ensure timely, accurate and cost-effective service.

The role requires strong leadership, fleet and inventory management experience, excellent Excel/reporting skills, and the ability to manage multiple sites while maintaining compliance and high

Qualifications

  • Must have Grade 12 / Matric.
  • Diploma or degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management or related field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years' experience in logistics, transport or supply chain management.
  • Experience managing staff and external service providers.
  • Experience with fleet and inventory management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate the collection, transportation and delivery of goods and supplies.
  • Ensure timely distribution of stock, equipment and materials to company sites and practices.
  • Monitor delivery schedules and resolve delays or logistical challenges.
  • Coordinate internal and external transportation requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of deliveries, collections and transfers.
  • Oversee company vehicles and transportation arrangements.
  • Monitor vehicle availability, servicing, licensing and maintenance requirements.
  • Monitor fuel usage and other transport-related costs.
  • Address vehicle incidents, breakdowns and operational issues.
  • Work closely with Procurement, Stores and Operations to ensure adequate stock availability.
  • Monitor the movement of stock between locations.
  • Assist with stock control and investigate discrepancies, losses or shortages.
  • Ensure that goods are stored and transported appropriately.
  • Support stocktaking and inventory reconciliation processes.
  • Coordinate with logistics suppliers, couriers and transport service providers.
  • Monitor service levels, delivery performance and costs.
  • Escalate service delivery issues where necessary.
  • Assist with obtaining quotations and evaluating logistics service providers.
  • Ensure logistics activities comply with company policies and applicable legislation.
  • Maintain appropriate transportation and delivery documentation.
  • Ensure that health, safety and quality requirements are followed.
  • Identify logistics risks and implement appropriate corrective measures.
  • Assist with internal and external audits relating to logistics activities.
  • Prepare regular logistics reports for management.
  • Monitor logistics costs and identify opportunities for cost savings.
  • Maintain accurate records of deliveries, vehicle usage, fuel, maintenance and related activities.
  • Track key logistics performance indicators.
  • Maintain appropriate filing and documentation systems.
  • Supervise and coordinate logistics staff, drivers and relevant support personnel.
  • Allocate duties and monitor performance.
  • Provide guidance, training and support to team members.
  • Address performance, attendance and disciplinary matters in accordance with company procedures.

Job description

Our client in the healthcare sector is looking for an experienced Logistics Manager to lead and oversee the efficient movement, storage and distribution of goods, equipment, medical supplies and other operational materials across the organisation.

Purpose of the Role

The Logistics Manager will be responsible for planning, coordinating and overseeing end-to-end logistics operations, ensuring that goods and supplies are delivered efficiently, accurately and on time.

The role will ensure that all logistics activities are managed in a cost-effective, compliant and customer-focused manner, while adhering to company policies, quality standards and applicable regulatory requirements.The successful candidate will play a key role in optimising logistics processes, managing operational efficiency, controlling costs and ensuring uninterrupted availability of critical supplies and materials.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
  • Grade 12 / Matric.
  • Diploma or degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management or a related field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years' experience in logistics, transport or supply chain management.
