Job summary

The Hr Company in Durban seeks an experienced Logistics Supervisor to oversee supply, safety stock, and fleet operations across a national footprint. You will coordinate third-party transport and ensure efficient scheduling for multiple national sites, with emphasis on quality and food safety systems.

Requirements include a relevant degree (BCom/BSc preferred), a minimum of 5 years’ people management in FMCG, and knowledge of cold chain. National travel is a regular part of the role.

Qualifications

• Min grade 12 with a relevant tertiary qualification (BCom/BSc) preferred.
• Postgrad qualification will be an advantage.
• 5+ years people management in FMCG with Quality, Food Safety and Safety Systems interface.
• Knowledge of cold chain supply.

Responsibilities

• Manage supply and safety stock levels for a nationwide customer base.
• Oversee POD/Invoice devices.
• Maintain weekly delivery schedules for 3 main national sites.
• Manage 3rd party transport contracts with the National Logistics Manager.
• Track turnaround times and utilization of internal product fleet.
• Plan key customer production based on weekly requirements.
• Manage bulk dispatch of product to depots.
• Management of the Durban Cold Room.
• Assist with weekly SOPs planning with the National Logistics Manager.
• Compile and manage feedback on internal complaints systems.
• Manage supply and safety stock to JHB and CPT.
• Distribute intermediate bulk product to JHB per Ops requirements.
• Manage consumer product range with the Business Units' and depot teams inclusive of cross border deliveries.
• Reporting on weekly reconciliations, delivery and route costs.
• Manage actual vs. budget relating to cross docking and depot replenishment deliverables.
• Management of pallet procurement and usage for production and national rotation.
• Implement Food Safety and ISO policies and requirements.

Job description

Key Functions

• Manage supply and safety stock levels to nationwide customer base
• Manage product POD/Invoice devices
• Maintain weekly product delivery schedules for 3 main national sites.
• Manage the 3rd Party transportation contract, together with the National Logistics Manager inclusive of fleet and people related operations
• Track turnaround times and utilization of internal product fleet
• Plan key customer production based on Business Unit weekly requirements
• Manage the bulk dispatch of product to depots
• Management of the Durban Cold Room
• Assist with weekly SOPs planning in conjunction with the National Logistics Manager
• Compile and manage feedback on internal complaints systems
• Manage the supply and safety stock of unblended product to JHB and CPT
• Manage the distribution of intermediate bulk product to JHB in accordance with Ops Business Unit requirements.
• Manage Consumer product range with the Business Units' and depot teams inclusive of cross border deliveries.
• Reporting on weekly reconciliations, delivery and route costs.
• Manage actual vs. budget relating to product cross docking and depot replenishment deliverables
• Management of pallet procurement and usage for production and national rotation
• Manage the implementation of Food Safety and ISO polices and requirements

Key Requirements

• Min grade 12 certificate, with a relevant tertiary qualification e.g. BCom or BSc degree preferred

• 5+ years people management experience in an FMCG environment with relevant Quality, Food Safety and Safety Systems interface preferred
