Job summary

Standard Bank Group is seeking a commercially astute leader to drive performance, transformation and growth in a defined local Personal & Private Banking market. You will lead multi-disciplinary squads, strengthen risk governance and embed platform-led delivery to exceed client expectations.

The role requires strong branch banking leadership, financial acumen and change management at scale, with a focus on sustainable profitability and market growth.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or advanced diploma in business commerce or related field (NQF7+; FAIS-aligned).
  • RE1 and RE5 required.
  • 8–10 years of branch banking experience with management of a client portfolio and P&L/balance sheet responsibility.
  • Strong understanding of digital banking, open banking and platform integration.

  • Lead consumer value proposition and life journeys across branch distribution, Private Banking and client platforms.

Job description

Business Segment: Personal & Private Banking

We are looking for a commercially astute and client-led leader to take accountability for the performance, transformation and growth of a defined local market within Personal and Private Banking (PPB). This role is responsible for driving client value, leading multi-disciplinary delivery, strengthening market performance across financial and non-financial measures, and embedding integrated ways of working that support a platform-led business model. The successful candidate will bring strong branch banking leadership, sound financial and risk management capability, and the ability to lead people, performance and change at scale.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Drive local market performance across client experience, revenue growth, operational efficiency and sustainable profitability.
  • Lead and commercialise the consumer value proposition and life journeys across branch distribution, Private Banking and client engagement platforms.
  • Build, enable and lead multi-disciplinary squads and integrated value chain collaboration to deliver holistic client solutions.
  • Strengthen governance, risk management, audit outcomes and recovery planning to protect the sustainability of the local market.
  • Lead people, culture and change initiatives that support transformation, capability upliftment and high-performance delivery.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma in Business Commerce or a related field (NQF 7 or higher
    FAIS-aligned qualification)
  • RE1 & RE5 required
  • Must meet the regulatory requirements to act as a Key Individual
  • 8-10 years’ significant branch banking experience, including management of a client portfolio
  • Proven experience managing an income statement and balance sheet
  • Strong understanding of digital banking, open banking and platform integration
  • Experience driving client retention, market growth and commercial performance
  • Experience leading teams, managing change and delivering results across a complex banking environment
