Staff Solutions in South Africa is seeking a General Manager for a luxury safari lodge. The role demands strong leadership across guest relations, Front Office, Housekeeping and F&B, with solid financial control and strategic planning.

Qualifications

• Matric and a degree, National Diploma or certificate in Hotel Management are essential.
• Five years’ experience in a five star lodge or hotel with hospitality management.
• Demonstrated leadership across departments and operating results responsibility.
• Thorough lodge operations knowledge with Guest Relations, Front Office, Housekeeping and F&B.
• Financial competence including budgeting, cost control, stock and admin discipline.
• Proficiency in OPERA and MS Office; experience with GuestRevu and TripAdvisor for guest feedback.
• Excellent English, strong reporting skills and professional presentation.
• Proven ability to motivate/train staff; valid driver’s license and live-in willingness.

Responsibilities

• Lodge leadership and daily operations with structured briefings and readiness checks.
• Coordinate occupancy, arrivals/departures and departmental workloads; manage handovers.
• Implement procedures, address service failures and hold teams accountable.
• Build guest relationships and ensure preferences and dietary needs are met.
• Take ownership of complaints and monitor feedback channels for timely responses.
• Oversee rooms, public areas and dining to meet lodge standards.
• Manage lodge budget, forecasts, payroll and cost controls.
• Collaborate with reservations to boost occupancy and revenue.
• Lead recruitment, rostering, performance reviews and staff development.
• Ensure safety, security, and resilience with incident reporting and action records.
