Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled Broadcast Sound Engineer for our Richards Bay production team. You will ensure top quality audio during live broadcasts and recorded content, handling recording, mixing, and playback with a professional, press-ready standard.

You will work closely with directors, talent, and crew to deliver clear, balanced sound, troubleshoot issues rapidly, and maintain equipment. A degree in Audio Engineering or Broadcasting is preferred.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in broadcast sound engineering.
• Proficiency with mixing consoles (Yamaha, Calrec) and broadcast standards.
• Strong microphone techniques and signal flow knowledge.
• Willingness to work evenings, weekends and holidays as required by schedules.
• Excellent communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain audio mixing consoles and broadcast equipment during live and recorded productions.
• Set up and manage microphones, monitor feeds and comms for talent and crew.
• Mix audio levels in real time for clarity and balance across program elements.
• Troubleshoot audio issues promptly to minimize interruptions.
• Collaborate with production to achieve the desired sound aesthetic.
• Maintain and service audio equipment with routine checks.
