Placements24 is assisting a leading diversified industrial group in Pretoria to recruit an In-house Commercial Litigation Associate. You will manage commercial disputes, draft pleadings, and coordinate with external counsel to protect corporate interests in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires an admitted SA attorney with at least 5 years' post-qualification experience, strong civil procedure knowledge, and excellent research and advocacy skills. Industrial sector experience is a plus.

Qualifications

Key Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of commercial litigation, from initial case assessment through to resolution.
• Conduct legal research, prepare pleadings, motions, and other court documents.
• Gather and analyze evidence, interview witnesses, and prepare case files.
• Liaise with external counsel, providing clear direction and oversight.
• Represent the company in mediations, arbitrations, and court appearances as required.
• Advise business units on dispute resolution strategies and risk mitigation.
• Assist in the development and implementation of internal policies to prevent litigation.
• Manage discovery processes, including document review and e-discovery.
• Provide timely and accurate updates on case progress to senior management.
• Negotiate settlements and draft settlement agreements.
