Job summary

Phakisa Holdings (Pty) Ltd is seeking a Line Setter for a temp-mid career role in Gauteng. The incumbent will coordinate with production to schedule batches, set up filling machines, and perform changeovers for efficient line operation.

Responsibilities include quality control, test runs, maintenance, and safe, compliant production. Grade 12/Matric with technical qualificatio n advantageous preferred.

Qualifications

• Grade 12/Matric; technical qualification advantageous.
• Experience with CNC machinery is preferred.
• Experience in setting and operating line setters is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with Production Team Leader to confirm batches and priorities.
• Set up filling machines per batch specs and adjust parameters for efficiency.
• Work with Quality to ensure fill volumes, product integrity and no contamination.
• Perform trial runs after setup and verify stability before full production.
• Conduct routine preventative maintenance and daily inspections of machines.
• Troubleshoot minor faults and escalate major issues to Maintenance.
• Adhere to Health & Safety regulations and maintain a clean workspace.
• Identify opportunities to improve line efficiency and changeover times.
• Ensure compliance with GMP and report unsafe conditions immediately.

Line Setter/Setter

Temp - Mid Career (2 - 4 yrs exp) - Gauteng

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Production Planning & Coordination: Liaise daily with the Production Team Leader/Supervisor to confirm upcoming batches and production priorities. Prepare in advance for the next scheduled batch changeover. Verify availability of all required components, packaging materials, labels, caps, and raw materials prior to setup.
• Machine Setup & Changeovers: Set up filling machines according to batch specifications. Adjust machine parameters to meet production efficiency targets. Perform mechanical adjustments to ensure proper alignment and functionality.
• Quality Control & Compliance: Work closely with the Quality Department to ensure correct fill volumes, product integrity, and no contamination or cross-mixing. Conduct and record initial test runs.
• Test Runs & Start-Up Verification: Perform trial runs after setup. Verify machine stability and consistent output. Make fine adjustments where required before full production release.
• Preventative Maintenance & Machine Care: Conduct routine preventative maintenance. Perform daily machine inspections before and after shifts. Lubricate, clean, and adjust machine components where required.
• Breakdown Response & Troubleshooting: Respond immediately to production line breakdowns. Diagnose and resolve minor mechanical faults. Escalate major issues to Maintenance Department.
• Safety & Housekeeping: Adhere strictly to Health & Safety regulations. Maintain a clean and hazard-free work environment. Wear required PPE at all times.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve line efficiency, changeover time, waste reduction, and machine performance. Contribute to production improvement initiatives.
• Health, Safety & GMP: Ensure compliance with Occupational Health & Safety regulations. Enforce correct PPE usage at all times. Identify and report unsafe conditions immediately.
