Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a licensed Air Traffic Controller for our Durban operations. You will monitor and direct aircraft within designated airspace, issuing clear instructions to pilots to maintain safe separation and optimize airport capacity.

The role requires current SACAA credentials, radar/ATC system proficiency, and at least 3 years of operational ATC experience. You will operate in a high‑security control center with rigorous safety protocols and ongoing training.

Qualifications

• Valid Air Traffic Controller license issued by SACAA.
• Current ATC ratings (Aerodrome/Approach/Area Control).
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as an operational Air Traffic Controller.
• Ability to maintain focus and situational awareness.
• Strong judgment and quick decision-making under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and direct all aircraft movements within assigned airspace using radar, visual, and communication systems.
• Provide clear, concise, and timely instructions to pilots, ensuring safe separation between aircraft.
• Manage air traffic flow, sequencing arrivals and departures to optimize airport capacity and minimize delays.
• Communicate effectively with pilots, other air traffic control units, and relevant aviation stakeholders.
• Respond rapidly and decisively to emergency situations, implementing appropriate procedures to ensure safety.
• Maintain constant vigilance and situational awareness of the airspace under your control.
• Adhere strictly to all national and international air traffic control regulations and procedures.
• Participate in regular simulator training and performance evaluations to maintain proficiency.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of air traffic management procedures and systems.
