Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly diligent, certified Air Traffic Controller for a major Durban airport on-site role. You will manage air traffic operations, ensure safe and efficient flow, and coordinate with multiple authorities in a high-pressure environment.

The role requires licensure with ATC ratings, completion of accredited ATC training, and ability to pass medical/psychological evaluations. Relocation to Durban may be required.

Qualifications

• Valid South African Air Traffic Controller license with ratings (e.g., Aerodrome, Approach, Area Control).
• Successful completion of an accredited Air Traffic Control training program.
• Demonstrated ability to pass medical and psychological evaluations.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and control aircraft movements within assigned airspace to prevent collisions and ensure efficient flow of air traffic.
• Communicate clearly with pilots, providing instructions and information as required.
• Operate radar systems, flight planning tools, and other equipment to track aircraft and manage airspace.
• Coordinate with other ATC units, airport authorities, and emergency services to ensure safe operations.
• Maintain vigilance and situational awareness, anticipating conflicts and taking preventive action.
• Adhere to ATC procedures, regulations, and safety guidelines.
• Manage emergencies or weather-related disruptions with calm, decisive action.
• Participate in ongoing training and evaluations to maintain certification and enhance skills.
