Placements24 is seeking a diligent and driven Legal Associate to join their remote legal team serving Welkom and beyond. You will conduct thorough legal research, draft pleadings and affidavits, and assist senior lawyers with case preparation from a fully remote setting.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, thrives independently, and has 3+ years post-admission as an Attorney or Conveyancer, with strong writing and research skills and familiarity with South African court procedures.

Qualifications

• Admitted Attorney or Conveyancer with at least 3 years of post-admission experience.
• Strong proficiency in legal research and writing.
• Familiarity with court rules and procedures in South African jurisdictions.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills, crucial for remote work.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and meet deadlines consistently.
• Proficiency in legal software and standard office applications.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive legal research on case law, statutes, and regulations pertinent to ongoing matters.
• Draft legal documents such as pleadings, motions, affidavits, and legal correspondence.
• Assist in preparing for trials, hearings, and depositions by organizing evidence and exhibits.
• Communicate with clients, courts, and opposing counsel under the supervision of senior attorneys.
