Herotel in Worcester, South Africa, is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Technician to lead the construction and maintenance of wireless and fibre infrastructure. You will mentor junior technicians and oversee high-site safety, ensuring reliable network performance and outage response in a demanding outdoor environment.

The role requires climbing tall structures, extensive travel, and strong leadership with a focus on safety and reliability.

Formación

• Grade 12 with Mathematics/Science advantageous
• 2–4 years relevant industry experience
• Valid driver’s licence (off-road driving advantageous)
• Valid medical certificate meeting role requirements
• Training in Working at Heights and Tower Rescue completed
• Proven ability to lead a team through hands-on demonstrations
• Experience with planning and monitoring tools or software
• Safe climbing practices and use of harnesses and climbing gear
• AC/DC electricity and solar energy systems understanding
• Power and battery equipment knowledge
• Network and RF principles understanding
• Routing fundamentals and network hardware knowledge
• Cable and trunking techniques knowledge
• Advanced fault-finding and problem-solving skills
• OSHA certification advantageous

Responsabilidades

• Lead construction, installation and maintenance of towers, fibre networks and data centres
• Respond to high site outages and fibre network breaks to restore connectivity
• Climb tall structures (50m+) carrying loads up to 20kg
• Install, replace and maintain antenna systems and tower equipment
• Build, repair and expand fibre infrastructure as required
• Install, maintain and repair power equipment and data routers
• Wear safety procedures and ensure compliance with safety standards
• Mentor junior tower and infrastructure technicians in the field
• Plan and support future infrastructure construction requirements
• Travel extensively, sometimes on short notice
• Maintain tools, equipment and work areas
• Follow job cards and schedules, escalating risks as needed
