Placements24 is seeking a Lead UX Researcher to join our fintech product team in Sandton. You will lead qualitative and quantitative research for mobile apps, mentor junior researchers, and collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering to translate insights into strategy.

The role blends on-site collaboration in Sandton with remote research work in a hybrid setup, supporting a fast-paced, user‑centric development culture.

Formación

• Master's or PhD in HCI, Psychology, Cognitive Science, Anthropology, Sociology, or related field with focus on user research.
• 6+ years hands-on UX research experience, including mobile applications.
• Experience leading research projects and mentoring junior researchers.
• Expertise in qualitative and quantitative research methods and tools.
• Strong analytical and storytelling skills; able to translate data into insights.
• Experience in agile environments and cross-functional teams.
• Familiarity with fintech user challenges is desirable.

They are seeking an experienced Lead UX Researcher to join their product development team in Sandton, Gauteng. This role is paramount in understanding user needs, behaviors, and motivations to inform the design of intuitive and impactful mobile applications. You will lead a team of researchers, guide research methodologies, and translate findings into actionable insights that shape product strategy. This hybrid position requires a blend of on-site strategic collaboration and focused remote research execution. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, execution, and analysis of qualitative and quantitative UX research studies for mobile fintech applications.
• Define research objectives, develop research plans, and select appropriate methodologies (e.g., user interviews, surveys, usability testing, A/B testing).
• Recruit, screen, and manage participants for research studies.
• Synthesize research findings into clear, compelling insights and actionable recommendations for product, design, and engineering teams.
• Mentor and guide junior UX researchers, fostering their professional development and ensuring research quality.
• Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Designers, and Engineers to integrate user insights throughout the product development lifecycle.
• Advocate for the user within the organization, ensuring that user needs are central to product decisions.
• Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the fintech landscape and competitive offerings.
• Present research findings and recommendations to stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership.

Requirements

• A Master's or Ph.D. in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Psychology, Cognitive Science, Anthropology, Sociology, or a related field with a focus on user research.
• Minimum of 6 years of hands‑on experience conducting UX research, with a proven track record in mobile application development.
• Demonstrated experience leading research projects and mentoring junior researchers.
• Expertise in a variety of qualitative and quantitative research methods and tools.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to translate complex data into meaningful insights.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and storytelling skills.
• Experience working within agile development environments and cross‑functional teams.
• Familiarity with the fintech industry and its unique user challenges is highly desirable.
• Ability to work effectively both in the office in Sandton, Gauteng, and remotely.
