Placements24 seeks a Lead Telecommunications Software Developer in Rustenburg to guide a talented development team. The role combines hands-on coding with architecture leadership to deliver scalable telecom software solutions.

You will architect and implement distributed systems, oversee the full dev lifecycle, and collaborate with product and engineering teams to meet ambitious goals in a dynamic telecom environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of professional software development experience, with at least 2 years in a lead or senior role.
• Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Java, C++, Python, or Go.
• Experience in designing and developing distributed systems and microservices architectures.
• Knowledge of telecommunications protocols and systems (e.g., SIP, VoIP, SS7, LTE).
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with Agile development methodologies.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Proven ability to mentor and guide junior developers.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of software developers, fostering a collaborative and productive environment.
• Architect, design, and develop high-quality, scalable, and maintainable software solutions for telecommunications systems.
• Oversee the entire software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering and design to implementation, testing, and deployment.
• Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to define software requirements and project roadmaps.
• Ensure adherence to coding standards, best practices, and performance optimization techniques.
• Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.
• Identify and implement improvements to development processes and tools.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex software defects and performance issues.
• Stay current with emerging software development trends and technologies relevant to the telecom sector.
