Placements24 is seeking an experienced and analytical Lead Supply Chain Analyst for a fast-paced FMCG client. This fully remote role focuses on analyzing complex data sets, forecasting, inventory optimization and end-to-end supply chain improvements.

You will mentor junior analysts, champion best practices, and collaborate with procurement, manufacturing and distribution to implement data-driven solutions. Advanced SQL, Python, R and BI skills are essential to succeed in this role.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive experience in supply chain analysis in FMCG or similar environment.
• Expertise in demand forecasting, inventory optimization, and logistics analysis.
• Proficiency in SQL, Python, R and BI platforms.

Responsibilities

• Lead the analysis of complex supply chain data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
• Develop and implement advanced forecasting models to optimize inventory and reduce stock-outs.

About the Role

Our client, a leading innovator in the FMCG sector, is seeking an experienced and analytical Lead Supply Chain Analyst to join their growing team. This position is fully remote, offering the flexibility to contribute from anywhere while driving critical improvements across our client's supply chain operations. You will be responsible for analyzing complex data sets, identifying inefficiencies, and developing data-driven strategies to optimize inventory management, logistics, demand forecasting, and overall supply chain performance. As a lead analyst, you will also mentor junior team members, champion best practices, and collaborate with cross-functional departments to implement transformative solutions. This role demands a deep understanding of supply chain principles, advanced analytical capabilities, and a proactive approach to problem-solving in a fast-paced, remote environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the analysis of complex supply chain data to identify trends, bottlenecks, and opportunities for improvement.
• Develop and implement advanced forecasting models to optimize inventory levels and reduce stock-outs and overstock.
• Analyze logistics and transportation data to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve delivery efficiency.
• Design and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and track supply chain performance.
• Collaborate with procurement, manufacturing, and distribution teams to ensure seamless end-to-end supply chain integration.
• Develop and present comprehensive reports and recommendations to senior management on supply chain strategies and operational improvements.
• Mentor and guide junior supply chain analysts, fostering their technical and analytical development.
• Utilize advanced analytical tools and software (e.g., SQL, Python, R, BI tools) to extract, manipulate, and visualize data.
• Identify and implement best practices in supply chain management and data analytics.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across all aspects of the supply chain, ensuring efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
• A Master's degree is preferred.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in supply chain analysis, with a strong focus on FMCG or a similar fast-paced industry.
• Demonstrated expertise in demand forecasting, inventory optimization, and logistics analysis.
• Advanced proficiency in data analysis tools such as SQL, Python, R, and BI platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
• Proven ability to lead analytical projects and mentor junior team members in a remote setting.
• Excellent understanding of supply chain principles and best practices.
• Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Experience working in a fully remote environment is highly advantageous.
• Strategic thinking and a proactive, problem-solving mindset are essential.
• Based in Stellenbosch or able to work effectively remotely from anywhere in ZA.
