Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Lead Quantity Surveyor for major construction projects in the Paarl region. You will lead a team of surveyors, overseeing budgets, tenders, and final accounts to maximize profitability and value for clients.

The role calls for strategic cost control, strong leadership, and expertise in cost engineering principles. Registration with SACPVP or RICS is highly desirable, with attractive incentives and growth opportunities on offer.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying or related field required.
• SACPVP or RICS registration is highly desirable.
• Minimum 7 years' progressive QS experience in construction.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed cost estimates, budgets and forecasts for Paarl projects.
• Manage tendering process: documents, bid evaluation and contract negotiations.
• Monitor expenditures, control costs and manage variations to stick to budget.
• Prepare interim/final accounts, valuations and claims.
• Provide cost analysis and financial advice to management.
• Lead and mentor junior quantity surveyors.

About the Role

Our client, a respected name in the construction industry, is seeking an experienced and meticulous Lead Quantity Surveyor to manage all cost-related aspects of their significant projects in the Paarl region. This senior position requires a strategic approach to cost management, from initial budgeting and tender evaluation to final account settlement. You will lead a team of surveyors, providing expert financial oversight and ensuring cost-effectiveness and profitability throughout the project lifecycle, playing a crucial role in the financial success of complex building endeavors.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed cost estimates, budgets, and financial forecasts for construction projects in Paarl .
• Manage the tendering process, including preparing tender documents, evaluating bids, and negotiating contracts.
• Monitor project expenditures, control costs, and manage variations to ensure adherence to budget.
• Prepare interim and final accounts, valuations, and claims.
• Conduct cost-benefit analysis and provide financial advice to project management teams.
• Lead and mentor junior quantity surveyors, fostering their professional development.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Professional registration with the South African Council for the Property Valuers Profession (SACPVP) or RICS is highly desirable.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in quantity surveying within the construction sector.
• Strong understanding of construction contracts, procurement methods, and cost engineering principles.
• Proficiency in cost estimating software and MS Excel.
• Excellent analytical, negotiation, and leadership skills.
