Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Installation & Commissioning Engineer for Upington, Northern Cape. You will lead the installation, testing and commissioning of power generation and distribution systems, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, safety standards and project timelines.

The role requires a Bachelor's or National Diploma in Electrical Engineering, 5–7 years in the field, and a proven ability to manage technical teams on-site.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or National Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
• 5-7 years of experience in installation, testing and commissioning of power systems.
• Experience with high‑voltage equipment and safety protocols.
• Strong understanding of power system engineering, protection schemes and control systems.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and single-line diagrams; strong leadership and communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead installation and commissioning phases for substations, generation units and distribution networks.
• Develop and execute detailed installation and commissioning plans.
• Ensure activities comply with designs, specifications and safety regulations.
• Coordinate on-site installation crews and contractors.
• Conduct rigorous testing and commissioning to verify performance.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during installation and commissioning.
• Prepare commissioning reports with tests, exceptions and sign-offs.
• Collaborate with project managers, design engineers and clients to meet objectives.
• Maintain accurate project documentation and as-built records.
• Ensure a safe working environment at all times.
