Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Principal Nanotechnology Engineer to lead R&D at our Rustenburg facility. You will steer nanoscale materials projects, mentor a team, and translate theory into scalable devices across electronics, medicine and energy.

The role demands a PhD and 8+ years in nanotech, with hands-on expertise in synthesis, TEM/SEM/AFM, and complex data analysis. You will publish findings and contribute to IP strategy, shaping the department's future.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Materials Science, Nanotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Lead the R&D and scale-up of advanced nanomaterials and nanotechnology-based devices.
• Oversee design and execution of experiments involving nanoscale synthesis, characterization, and fabrication.
• Develop and implement advanced characterization techniques, such as TEM, SEM, AFM, and spectroscopy.
• Analyze complex experimental data, drawing conclusions and formulating next steps for research.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams of material scientists, chemists, and product development engineers.
• Prepare technical reports, research papers for publication, and presentations for conferences and stakeholders.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers and researchers, fostering scientific rigor and innovation.
• Stay current with the latest advancements in nanotechnology and identify opportunities and challenges.
• Contribute to strategic direction of the nanotechnology R&D department and IP development.
