Reddam House Durbanville invites applications for a Prep School teacher. The role focuses on Plan and deliver Senior Preparatory lessons (Grade 5–7) in Afrikaans and Mathematics within a supportive, aspirational environment.

You will foster scholarly growth, manage classrooms professionally, and contribute to ongoing school development and parental communication.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience with students in a preparatory school.
• Experience using ICT as a teaching tool.
• Experience in an international school is preferred.
• Cambridge curriculum experience is advantageous.

Responsabilités

• Plan, prepare and present Senior Preparatory lessons (Grade 5–7) in Afrikaans and Mathematics.
• Establish a nurturing learning environment that promotes engagement.
• Maintain punctuality, professional behaviour and homework standards.
• Evaluate, reflect on and refine teaching practice.
• Engage in ongoing professional development with the school.
• Teach extra lessons two afternoons per week when required.
• Produce high-standard teaching resources for students.
• Respond to emails and calls from parents within 24 hours.
• Show loyalty to all aspects of Reddam House Durbanville.
• Attend all required school events and activities.
• Set and mark exams and provide report comments.
• Undertake other reasonable tasks as determined by the Head.

ROLE SUMMARY

• To adopt a holistic view to students in their care, promoting the general progress and well-being of individuals and of any class or group assigned to them.
• To create a positive learning environment and motivate students to achieve their full potential

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plan prepare and present interesting and exciting Senior Preparatory lessons (Grade 5 – 7 specializing in Afrikaans and Mathematics).
• Establish a teaching environment that is nurturing, and which promotes engaged learning.
• Behave in a professional manner with regard to punctuality, behaviour, standards of work and students’ homework.
• Evaluate, reflect on and refine teaching practice.
• Be open to continuously develop ones teaching through personal and school wide professional development.
• Teach extra lessons, when required, on two afternoons per week.
• Produce resources of a high standard for students.
• Respond to e-mails and telephone messages from parents within 24 hours.
• Show loyalty to all facets of Reddam House.
• Attend all special occasions at the discretion of the relevant Head.
• Set and mark exams and all other forms of student evaluation.
• Write report comments.
• The post holder is required to undertake any other reasonable tasks that the School Head/line manager determine.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE

Skills And Previous Experience

• A minimum of 3 years’ experience with students in a preparatory school
• Confidence with use of ICT in teaching
• Previous experience in an international school
• Previous experience with the Cambridge curriculum would be an advantage
