About the Role

Our client, a distinguished name in the mining and resource processing industry, is seeking an accomplished Lead Metallurgical Process Engineer to join their advanced technical team in Randburg, Gauteng. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the conceptualization, design, and implementation of metallurgical processes for various mineral commodities.
• Optimize existing plant operations to enhance recovery rates, improve product quality, reduce operational costs, and minimize environmental footprint.
• Develop and execute pilot plant programs and bench-scale testwork to evaluate new technologies and process modifications.
• Provide expert technical leadership and mentorship to a team of process engineers and technicians.
• Conduct detailed troubleshooting of process upsets and implement effective, data-driven solutions.
• Collaborate with geologists, mining engineers, and project managers to ensure seamless integration of metallurgical considerations into project lifecycles.
• Prepare comprehensive technical reports, feasibility studies, and process documentation.
• Ensure all process engineering activities comply with stringent safety, health, and environmental regulations.

Requirements

• Master's or Ph.D. degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• A minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in metallurgical process engineering, with a strong focus on the mining industry.
• Demonstrated experience in leading process design and optimization projects.
• Expertise in process simulation software (e.g., METSIM, HSC Chemistry, Aspen Plus) and advanced analytical tools.
• Strong knowledge of mineral processing unit operations (e.g., comminution, flotation, leaching, solid-liquid separation).
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a data-driven approach to decision-making.
• Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Professional Engineer (PE) designation or equivalent is highly regarded.
