About the Role

Our client, a premier provider of climate control solutions, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead HVAC Installation Specialist to oversee and execute complex heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system installations in the Cape Town, Western Cape area. This leadership position requires a deep understanding of HVAC principles, advanced installation techniques, and the ability to guide and mentor a team of technicians. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring all installations meet stringent quality standards, safety regulations, and client specifications. This role is crucial for maintaining our client's reputation for excellence and reliability in delivering efficient and effective climate control systems for commercial and residential properties. You will play a pivotal role in project planning, site assessment, and the successful implementation of cutting-edge HVAC technologies, ensuring optimal performance and client satisfaction. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage teams of HVAC technicians during the installation of complex heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
• Interpret architectural plans, blueprints, and specifications to determine optimal system layouts and installation procedures.
• Oversee the safe and efficient installation of ductwork, piping, refrigeration components, and control systems.
• Conduct pre-installation site surveys to identify potential challenges and ensure all necessary resources are available.
• Ensure all installations comply with local building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards.
• Perform system testing, balancing, and commissioning to verify performance and efficiency.
• Troubleshoot and resolve any installation-related issues or system malfunctions encountered during or after the installation process.
• Provide technical guidance, training, and mentorship to junior installation technicians.
• Maintain detailed records of all installation activities, including materials used, labor hours, and completion status.
• Collaborate with project managers, clients, and other stakeholders to ensure project timelines and objectives are met.

Requirements

• A relevant trade qualification in HVAC, Refrigeration, or a related field, with a strong emphasis on installation.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in HVAC installation, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
• In-depth knowledge of various HVAC systems, including split systems, ducted systems, VRF/VRV, and chilled water systems.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex technical drawings and schematics.
• Expertise in using hand and power tools common to the HVAC trade, as well as diagnostic equipment.
• Strong understanding of electrical, plumbing, and refrigerant handling principles related to HVAC systems.
• Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage a technical team effectively.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Strong communication and customer service skills, capable of interacting professionally with clients.
• Must be able to work effectively in the Cape Town area, with occasional site visits across the Western Cape.
• A valid driver's license is required.
