Key Responsibilities

Lead the architectural design process for large-scale healthcare projects, including hospitals, clinics, and specialized medical centers. Develop conceptual designs, master plans, and detailed architectural documentation for healthcare facilities. Ensure designs comply with all relevant healthcare building codes, standards (e.g., NHRA, SANS), and best practices for infection control and patient safety. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including medical planners, engineers, interior designers, and equipment specialists. Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively from inception through construction. Conduct site feasibility studies and client consultations to define project scope and requirements. Present design concepts and proposals to stakeholders, including hospital boards, government agencies, and community groups. Mentor and guide junior healthcare architects and design staff, fostering professional development and technical expertise. Stay current with advancements in healthcare technology, medical planning trends, and sustainable healthcare design strategies. Review construction documents and provide architectural support during the construction administration phase.

Requirements

Master's degree in Architecture with a specialization in Healthcare Design or a related field. Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in healthcare architecture, with at least 5 years in a lead or senior role. Demonstrated expertise in designing various healthcare typologies (e.g., acute care hospitals, outpatient centers, specialized clinics). In-depth knowledge of healthcare-specific regulations, codes, and standards. Proficiency in architectural design software, including Revit, AutoCAD, and BIM modeling tools. Exceptional leadership, project management, and client relationship management skills. Strong ability to analyze complex functional requirements and translate them into innovative architectural solutions. Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills. Registered with SACAP as a Professional Architect. Proven track record of successfully delivering complex healthcare projects on time and within budget.
