About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Lead Grid Integration Specialist to be based in our Cape Town, Western Cape office. This senior role is crucial for managing the complexities of integrating diverse energy sources, including renewables, into the national grid. You will be instrumental in shaping the future of energy infrastructure, ensuring reliability, security, and compliance with evolving industry standards. The position requires deep technical knowledge of power systems, grid operations, and regulatory frameworks. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategies for the seamless integration of renewable energy sources (solar, wind, battery storage) into the existing grid infrastructure.
• Analyze grid stability, power flow, and fault current levels to ensure safe and reliable operation under various scenarios.
• Collaborate with utility partners, regulators, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with grid codes and interconnection requirements.
• Lead technical assessments and studies related to grid impact, capacity, and enhancement needs.
• Manage projects focused on grid modernization, smart grid technologies, and demand-side management.
• Provide expert technical advice on grid interconnection agreements and power purchase agreements.
• Mentor and guide a team of engineers involved in grid integration activities.
• Represent the company in industry forums and technical working groups.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, with a specialization in Power Systems.
• A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in power systems engineering, with at least 5 years focused on grid integration and renewable energy.
• In-depth knowledge of power system analysis tools (e.g., PSS/E, PowerFactory DIgSILENT, ETAP).
• Strong understanding of grid codes, utility interconnection standards, and relevant South African regulations.
• Demonstrated experience in managing complex technical projects and leading engineering teams.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment in Cape Town, Western Cape.
• Professional registration (Pr.Eng) is a significant advantage.
