Placements24 in Cape Town is seeking a Lead Frontend Developer to spearhead the design and implementation of complex frontend features using React. You will mentor a team, drive architectural decisions, and collaborate with backend, design, and product teams to deliver high-quality UI.

The role requires a strong background in React ecosystems (Redux/Context API), ES6+, and modern tooling. A focus on performance, mentoring, and strategic technical leadership is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 7+ years of professional frontend development experience, with at least 2 years in lead or senior role.
• Extensive experience with JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS3.
• Deep expertise in React.js and its ecosystem (Redux, Context API).
• Experience with state management, component libraries, and frontend build tools (Webpack, Babel).
• Strong understanding of RESTful APIs and asynchronous request handling.
• Experience with testing frameworks (Jest, React Testing Library).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Experience with TypeScript is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and implementation of complex frontend features using React and related technologies.
• Architect scalable and maintainable frontend codebases.
• Mentor and guide junior frontend developers, conducting code reviews and providing technical leadership.
• Collaborate with backend developers, designers, and product managers to define and implement user stories.
• Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs and optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability.
• Identify and address performance bottlenecks and bugs.
• Champion best practices in coding, testing, and deployment.
• Stay current with emerging frontend technologies and propose their adoption where beneficial.
