Job summary

Sandi Crowther Recruitment is seeking an experienced Die-Cutting Operator in Ballito, KwaZulu-Natal, to set up and operate automatic flatbed die-cutting and hot-foil stamping equipment. You will run make-readies, align dies, and ensure production meets quality standards.

The role requires minimum 7 years' experience with platen machines such as Bobst, Heidelberg or similar, strong hot-foil and embossing skills, and the ability to read specifications, train helpers, and work shifts as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years' experience operating automatic flatbed die-cutting machinery.
• Experience on Bobst, Heidelberg, Yawa, Eterna, Masterwork or similar automatic platen machines.
• Strong hot-foil stamping and embossing experience.
• Able to complete machine setups and make-readies independently.
• Experience working with printed carton board, coated papers and packaging materials.
• Excellent knowledge of cutting dies, creasing, stripping systems and make-ready processes.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot production issues.
• Able to read job specifications and technical instructions.
• Willing to work shifts and overtime when required.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate automatic flatbed die-cutting and hot-foil stamping machinery independently.
• Complete efficient make-readies, including die installation, stripping, registration and tooling setup.
• Set up and run hot-foil stamping jobs to required quality standards.
• Achieve production, waste, quality and output targets.
• Monitor production runs and resolve machine, registration and quality issues.
• Conduct quality inspections and minimise downtime and material waste.
• Complete production records accurately.
• Perform routine cleaning, inspections and preventative maintenance.
• Lead machine assistants, maintain a safe work area and assist with operator training.
