Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Biophysical Chemistry, or a related field with a strong focus on enzyme mechanisms.
• Minimum of 5 years of post-doctoral or industry experience in enzyme characterization and analysis.
• Extensive hands-on experience with a variety of biochemical and biophysical techniques (e.g., spectroscopy, chromatography, calorimetry).
• Proficiency in protein expression and purification, and enzyme kinetics analysis.
• Familiarity with computational tools for protein structure analysis and modeling.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills within a laboratory setting in Paarl.

Responsibilities

• Design and perform enzymology assays to characterize enzyme kinetics, mechanisms, and substrate specificities.
• Develop and optimize protein purification strategies for recombinant and native enzymes.
• Investigate enzyme structure-function relationships using biochemical and biophysical techniques.
• Contribute to the design and implementation of enzyme engineering projects for improved catalytic properties.
• Collaborate with chemists and biologists to integrate enzymatic studies into broader research programs.
• Analyze and interpret complex biochemical data, preparing detailed reports and presentations.
