Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Lead Educational Psychologist to head a new student support centre in George, Western Cape. This hybrid role blends on-site client interaction with remote administration and research, aimed at fostering a positive, inclusive learning environment.

You will supervise a team of psychologists, conduct psycho-educational assessments, design interventions, provide counselling to students and families, and collaborate with educators to implement school-wide mental

Qualifications

• Master's or Doctoral degree in Educational or Clinical Psychology.
• HPCSA Registered Psychologist.
• Minimum 7 years post-qualification experience as an Educational Psychologist, with at least 3 years in leadership.
• Extensive psycho-educational assessment experience.
• Proficiency in CBT and play therapy.
• Strong leadership, team management and report-writing skills.
• Experience in educational settings, George, Western Cape or similar.
• Hybrid work model capability with travel within the region.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operations of the student support centre.
• Conduct psychological assessments and evaluations for students.
• Develop and implement individualized intervention plans.
• Provide counselling to students, parents, and families.
• Supervise and mentor junior psychologists and interns.
• Collaborate with educators, administrators and external agencies.
• Design and deliver workshops on mental health for staff and parents.
• Contribute to school-wide mental health policies and programs.
• Maintain confidential client records per ethical standards.
• Stay updated with research and best practices.
