Job summary

Barloworld Equipment is seeking an analytics leader to own the Power BI reporting function in Cape Town. You will guide design, governance, and delivery of trusted insights, while mentoring BI professionals and aligning outputs with business needs.

You will work with data engineers and governance teams to ensure secure, scalable data and KPIs. Strong leadership, DAX, SQL, and cloud data platform experience are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Degree in Analytics, Information Systems, BI, CS or equivalent.
• Extensive Power BI experience in enterprise environments.
• Strong semantic modelling and DAX expertise.
• Experience in analytics leadership or senior technical role.
• SQL knowledge and data platform experience (Azure/Snowflake).

To lead the analytics and Power BI reporting function, ensuring delivery of trusted, high-quality, and actionable insights that support business decision-making. The role combines hands-on development, technical leadership, governance, and stakeholder engagement, ensuring analytics outputs are scalable, consistent, and aligned to business needs, while mentoring analysts and driving analytics excellence.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and delivery of Power BI reports, dashboards, and semantic models
• Define and enforce analytics standards (data models, DAX, UX, deployment practices)
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to BI developers and analysts
• Own quality assurance across all reporting and analytics outputs
• Partner with data engineering and governance teams to ensure trusted, business-ready data
• Engage stakeholders to define KPIs, metrics, and reporting requirements
• Ensure compliance with data governance, security, and reporting standards
• Drive adoption and effective use of Power BI across the organisation

Minimum Required Qualification
