Job summary

Elite Search in South Africa seeks a Data Analyst to translate business needs into data definitions, report specifications and dashboards, using Excel, Power BI and SQL. You will analyze operational, financial and customer data to identify trends, anomalies and opportunities, present clear insights to stakeholders, and ensure reproducible analyses with validated data.

Job description

The Role:

• Lead/support workshops and stakeholder interviews to understand business objectives, processes, reporting pain points and analytical requirements.
• Translate business needs into data definitions, user stories, report specifications, measures, business rules and acceptance criteria.
• Challenge unclear or low-value requests and recommend fit-for-purpose analytical solutions.
• Define report purpose, audience, frequency, ownership and required level of detail.
• Analyse operational, financial and customer data to identify trends, drivers, anomalies, and exceptions and improvement opportunities.
• Produce recurring and ad hoc analysis with concise business commentary.
• Perform: segmentation analysis, variance analysis, trend analysis, root-cause analysis, forecasting and scenario modelling.
• Translate analytical findings into business-friendly language.
• Clearly distinguish between facts, assumptions, correlations and conclusions.
• Ensure analytical findings are reproducible and supported by validated data.
• Profile data for completeness, accuracy, consistency, validity, uniqueness and timeliness.
• Investigate data discrepancies and determine root causes.
• Develop/perform data validation and reconciliation.
• Provide business-facing support for reporting and analytical products.
• Develop clear dashboards and data visualisations where appropriate.
• Use Excel, Power BI and SQL to extract, analyse and present information.
• Identify opportunities for predictive analysis, anomaly detection and AI-supported analytics.
• Validate AI-generated outputs against trusted business data.
• Document analytical assumptions, limitations and validation steps.
• Influence KPI definitions, prioritisation and adoption across business functions.
• Present insights and recommendations to business stakeholders

Requirements:
