Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Lead Cybersecurity Architect to spearhead the design and implementation of advanced security solutions in Upington, Northern Cape. You will define the security architecture strategy, mentor staff, and collaborate with business units to embed security into technology landscapes.

The role requires a strategic visionary capable of designing resilient, scalable security infrastructures and guiding teams through complex deployments.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
• At least 10 years in cybersecurity, with 5+ years in a cybersecurity architecture role.
• Experience designing and implementing large-scale security architectures.
• Deep understanding of network, cloud, application, and data security.
• Expertise with TOGAF, SABSA, NIST Cybersecurity Framework.
• Experience with firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, EDR, IAM, and cryptography.
• Strong leadership, communication, and presentation skills.
• Ability to influence diverse stakeholders.
• Certifications such as CISSP-ISSAP, SANS GIAC preferred.
• Experience in risk management and compliance in Northern Cape context.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain the organization's cybersecurity architecture, aligned with business objectives and risk appetite.
• Lead the evaluation and selection of security technologies and platforms.
• Develop and enforce security architecture standards, patterns, and best practices.
• Provide technical leadership to cybersecurity teams and IT personnel.
• Conduct security design reviews for new systems and infrastructure projects.
• Develop and manage threat models and risk assessments for critical systems.
• Oversee the implementation of security controls across the enterprise.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate requirements into security solutions.
• Stay current with emerging threats, technologies, and regulatory requirements.
• Contribute to incident response planning from an architectural perspective.
