Job summary

Chart Industries’ Howden South Africa Division in Middelburg seeks an experienced EHS Officer to ensure SHE compliance on maintenance and GO sites, aligning with client standards and legal requirements. You will manage safety administration, perform job observations, record requests and near misses, investigate incidents, and roll out safety requirements across sites.

You will conduct subcontractor audits, assess risk, and ensure implementation of safe work procedures in line with ISO/SOX

Qualifications

• National Diploma in Safety Management or equivalent.
• Grade 12 with SAMTRAC certification.
• SACPMP registration as Safety Officer preferred.
• Minimum 5 years experience in EHS within industrial/manufacturing environments.
• Excellent risk assessment and incident investigation skills.

Responsibilities

• Accountable for HSE on maintenance and GO sites to ensure legal and internal compliance.
• Manage safety administration, observe jobs, record safety requests, near misses, and investigate incidents.

Howden South Africa Division is looking for an experienced **EHS Officer (Middelburg)** to ensure that the customer sites where Howden staff perform maintenance and installations, comply with SHE standards (internal, client standards & statutory compliance).
**_What Will You Do?_**
+ Accountable for HSE on the various Maintenance and GO sites to ensure Howden complies legally with its internal procedures.
+ Responsible for the safety administration and doing job observations and recording of safety requests/complaints/ near misses and investigating all incidents.
+ Accountable for the rollout of all safety requirements to sites and giving feedback about rollout to ensure we comply with our internal safety requirements
+ Conduct audits on subcontractors before allowing them onto site, as to determine the level of compliance and suggest corrective action and implantation of action to ensure we compile with our and customer requirements.
+ Assessing risk on sites and writing of risk assessments and written safe work procedures to enable work to be done
+ SOX Compliance: Adhere to Sarbanes Oxley and AX controls
**_Your Experience Should Be._**
+ National Diploma in Safety Management
+ Grade 12, SAMTRAC
+ SACPMP Registered as a safety officer.
+ 5 years of experience as an EHS Officer
+ Incident and accident investigation course
+ HIRA course
+ Basic SHE audit course
+ Extensive SHE exposure in industrial / manufacturing environment
+ Must be computer literate.
+ Added advantage - Ergonomics training, ISO 90001 Safety and quality certified, ISO 14000 environmental certified
+ ISO 45000 certified.
