About the Role

Our client, a leader in civil infrastructure development, is seeking a highly experienced and visionary Lead Civil Engineer to spearhead projects from their base in Polokwane, Limpopo . This senior role demands exceptional technical expertise in civil engineering design, project management, and team leadership. You will be responsible for overseeing the design, planning, and execution of significant infrastructure projects, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and sustainability. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of regional infrastructure needs and challenges, coupled with a proven ability to manage complex projects and mentor junior engineers. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the conceptualization, design, and implementation of major civil engineering projects, including roads, bridges, water systems, and urban development.
• Manage project lifecycles from feasibility studies and detailed design to construction supervision and handover.
• Provide expert technical guidance and mentorship to a team of civil engineers and technical staff.
• Ensure all designs and projects comply with relevant South African National Standards (SANS), municipal regulations, and environmental legislation.

• Liaise effectively with clients, government authorities, consultants, and contractors to ensure project objectives are met.
• Conduct site investigations, feasibility studies, and impact assessments in the Polokwane region and surrounding areas.

Requirements

• A Master's degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).
• A minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in civil engineering, with a significant portion in a leadership or project management role.
• Proven experience in the design and management of large-scale infrastructure projects.
• Expertise in relevant civil engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit, PDS, HEC-RAS).
• Strong understanding of contract law, procurement processes, and project financial management.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and mentor technical teams.
• Experience working on projects within the Limpopo province is highly advantageous.
