About the Role

Our client, a leading consultancy firm dedicated to municipal infrastructure development, is seeking a highly experienced Principal Civil Engineer to join their team in Polokwane, Limpopo . This senior role involves leading the planning, design, and implementation of critical civil infrastructure projects, including roads, stormwater systems, and water reticulation. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of municipal planning processes, regulatory frameworks, and public stakeholder engagement. You will guide project teams, ensure technical excellence, and contribute to the sustainable development of communities within Polokwane and the wider Limpopo province. This is a challenging and rewarding position for a motivated professional.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the conceptualization, feasibility studies, and detailed design of municipal civil infrastructure projects.
• Manage project lifecycles, including planning, design, tender documentation, and construction supervision.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant municipal bylaws, South African National Standards (SANS), and environmental regulations.
• Oversee and mentor junior civil engineers and technical staff, fostering their professional development.
• Conduct site investigations, assessments, and surveys to inform design decisions.
• Prepare comprehensive technical reports, design documents, and project proposals.
• Engage effectively with municipal clients, government agencies, and community stakeholders throughout project development.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration with ECSA is mandatory.
• A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in civil engineering, with a significant focus on municipal infrastructure projects.
• Proven experience in the design of roads, stormwater management systems, and water/wastewater reticulation.
• In-depth knowledge of South African municipal planning frameworks and procurement processes.
