Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Lead Audio Engineer in Johannesburg to spearhead immersive audio for entertainment platforms. You will lead a team of audio professionals, drive sound design, mixing, and mastery, and collaborate with designers, developers, and artists to realize creative visions.

The role requires a bachelor’s in audio engineering or related field, 7+ years in audio, and strong DAW and middleware expertise across Pro Tools, Wwise, FMOD, and game engines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Audio Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years in audio engineering, with 3+ years in a leadership role.
• Pro Tools, Logic Pro or Cubase proficiency.
• Strong knowledge of audio middleware (Wwise/FMOD) and game engines (Unreal/Unity).
• Proficiency in audio programming and scripting (C++, Python).

Responsibilities

• Lead design, implementation, and optimization of complex audio systems for entertainment platforms.
• Mentor and manage a team of audio engineers, fostering collaboration.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (designers, developers, artists) to align audio vision with goals.
• Develop and maintain audio tools, pipelines, and middleware.
• Conduct sound design, mixing, and mastering for all assets.
• Troubleshoot audio issues throughout development lifecycle.
• Stay updated on latest audio tech and best practices.
• Manage audio budgets and resource allocation.
