Job description

Public services run on software that has to work — for citizens, for colleagues, and for the teams who keep it alive. A government entity is looking for a Lead Application Developer to take the helm of that work: design it, build it, ship it, and bring a diverse technical team with you.

This is hands‑on leadership. You will still open the editor. You will also set the standard, unblock the room, and turn a requirement into something people can actually use.

The Role:

You will manage diverse technical teams responsible for translating user requirements into the design and development of customised applications in an agile environment. From specification to prototype to production, the build is yours to own — including eLearning solutions that train and support the people who use them.

What you will do:

  • Manage diverse technical teams that translate user requirements into the design and development of customised applications in an agile environment.

  • Design, develop and deploy programs from program specifications.

  • Construct and implement application programs.

  • Construct and develop programs, including coding, testing and debugging.

  • Ensure documentation of code and classes.

  • Design application prototypes.

  • Coordinate application plans with the development team or the government entity.

  • Adhere to the government entity’s Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) methodologies and processes.

  • Design, develop and deploy eLearning solutions that meet the government entity’s needs and optimise efficacy through training and support.

Requirements

What you bring: Minimum Qualification and competencies:

  • A tertiary qualification in Computer Science and/or Software Engineering and/or Information Systems and/or Information Technology, and/or a related technical certification in the IT field.

  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience as an application developer working with:

  • ASP.NET, Web Forms, MVC 5 and C#

  • JavaScript and jQuery

  • HTML and CSS

  • Microsoft SQL Server and stored procedures

  • Blazor

  • Angular

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience managing a development team, providing guidance and oversight to development teams.

  • Proficiency in source code management applications.
