Job summary

Crew Life at Sea Ltd. is seeking dedicated Laundry Operatives to join our cruise ship team. You will operate commercial laundry equipment, sort and process guest and crew items, and ensure high standards of cleanliness and guest satisfaction.

The role requires attention to detail, physical stamina, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment aboard a ship. Training is provided, with opportunities to collaborate across housekeeping and other departments, while maintaining strict hygiene

Responsibilities

• Iron, press, fold, and package finished laundry items neatly.
• Maintain inventory of linens and towels, report shortages.
• Inspect items for quality, cleanliness, and proper finishing.
• Follow safety and sanitation procedures and use PPE as required.
• Keep accurate records of items processed and dates.
• Coordinate with housekeeping and other departments for timely delivery.
• Adapt to different areas of the laundry department as needed.
• Assist with general housekeeping duties related to laundry operations when required.

Responsibilities:

1. Laundry Operations: Operate commercial laundry equipment, including washers, dryers, and ironing machines, to process guest and crew laundry efficiently and according to established procedures.
2. Sorting and Processing: Sort and organize laundry items based on fabric type, color, and specific instructions. Load and unload laundry machines, ensuring proper handling and care.
3. Stain Removal: Identify and treat stains on garments and linens using appropriate stain removal techniques and products. Follow standard stain removal procedures to ensure the best possible results.
4. Ironing and Folding: Iron and press laundered items, ensuring proper techniques and quality standards are met. Fold and package finished laundry items neatly and accurately.
5. Inventory Management: Maintain inventory of linens, uniforms, and other laundry items. Monitor stock levels, report shortages, and assist with inventory control and ordering as directed.
6. Quality Control: Inspect laundered items for quality, including cleanliness, freshness, and proper finishing. Address any issues or rewash items as necessary to maintain high standards.
7. Safety and Sanitation: Follow safety and sanitation procedures, including proper handling and storage of laundry chemicals, equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE). Maintain a clean and organized laundry area.
8. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of laundry operations, including items processed, dates, and any special instructions or notes. Complete required forms and reports as directed.
9. Team Collaboration: Work closely with other laundry staff, housekeeping, and other departments to ensure efficient operations, timely delivery of laundry, and guest satisfaction.
