Job summary

Schauenburg International in Gauteng seeks a Lamproom Operator to assist in providing quality services and safe operation of lamproom equipment for health, safety and productivity in the mining sector.

The role requires a Grade 10 certificate with maths and physical science, 1+ year lamproom/technical experience, basic lamp room tool knowledge and competent computer skills; responsibilities cover reporting, safety compliance and customer liaison.

Qualifications

• Grade 10 certificate or equivalent with mathematics and physical science on standard grade (D symbol).
• At least 1 year experience as a lamproom operator and/or technical type role / environment.
• Basic understanding of lamp room equipment and tools.
• Good computer skills (Microsoft package).

Responsibilities

• Performs day to day activities in accordance with the prescribed DMR guidelines and as stipulated but not limited to the mine code of practice.
• Provides legal and competent services.
• Compile and submit the necessary reports (legal documentation).
• Resolves all customer complaints and grievances in a timely and professional manner.
• Maintain and monitor lamp room equipment.
• Maintains through and up-to-date knowledge of internal and external procedures, schedules and directives pertinent to the lamp room, and attends in-service, mandatory, basic, advance and/or specialized training to maintain current and proficiency or learn new job related information and skills.
• Maintain housekeeping in area of responsibility.
• Liaise with Lampsman to assist in ensuring quality and safety of work and that contractual obligations are met
• Liaise with visitors, clients, staff and others to assist with general enquiries.
