Job summary

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle seeks a Repository Technician to oversee the laboratory specimen repository, maintain cold chain integrity, and manage related documentation. The role also covers equipment maintenance, safety, and regulatory compliance in a high‑volume research setting.

The candidate should have a relevant degree and at least 5 years of GCLP‑compliant laboratory experience, with proficiency in LIMS and regulatory practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or BTech in a relevant field (e.g., Biomedical Technology) or equivalent diploma/certification.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a GCLP-compliant or auditable lab environment in South Africa.
• Experience with LIMS for specimen management; LDMS/LabWare advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operation and organization of the laboratory specimen repository, ensuring specimen integrity, traceability, and cold chain management.
• Coordinate repository equipment maintenance, calibration, qualification and servicing to ensure compliance and readiness.
• Promote laboratory safety, conduct risk assessments, support EHS/GCLP compliance, and deliver safety training.
• Perform quality control reviews of repository, equipment and safety documents; maintain SOPs and assist audits and CAPAs.
