NHS Grampian is seeking a Ventilation & Pressure Systems Lead to govern and assure ventilation and pressure systems across our healthcare estate. You will provide expert technical guidance to senior managers, estates teams and contractors, ensuring compliance with current legislation and NHS guidance.
You will develop policies, audit programmes and safe systems of work while leading investigations, risk assessments and improvement programmes to enhance safety and reliability across the estate.
Are you an experienced Mechanical Engineer looking to make a real difference in healthcare? Join NHS Grampian as our Ventilation & Pressure Systems Lead and help ensure the safety, compliance and resilience of critical engineering systems that directly support patient care across one of Scotland's most diverse healthcare estates.
An exciting opportunity has arisen within NHS Grampian's Facilities and Estates Directorate for a highly motivated engineering professional to lead the governance, assurance and statutory compliance of ventilation and pressure systems across our healthcare estate.
This specialist role sits within our Maintenance & Technical Services team and will provide professional leadership for two critical engineering disciplines that are fundamental to patient safety, service continuity and regulatory compliance. Acting as the recognised Subject Matter Expert for Ventilation and Pressure Systems, you will provide expert technical advice and assurance to senior managers, operational Estates teams, contractors, clinical stakeholders and specialist advisors across NHS Grampian.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that ventilation systems and pressure systems are operated, maintained and managed in accordance with current legislation, Scottish Health Technical Memoranda, British Standards and NHS guidance. You will play a leading role in developing engineering policies, compliance frameworks, audit programmes and safe systems of work while providing assurance that maintenance activities and statutory inspections are being delivered to the required standards.
A significant part of the role will involve evaluating engineering risks, analysing compliance data, leading technical investigations and supporting the development of improvement programmes designed to enhance safety, reliability and performance across the estate. You will work closely with operational teams and specialist contractors to identify emerging risks, prioritise remedial works and support investment decisions based on robust technical evidence.
The role also provides an opportunity to influence the future development of NHS Grampian's engineering infrastructure through involvement in asset management, lifecycle planning, backlog maintenance reduction and capital projects. Working alongside colleagues from Estates, Infection Prevention and Control, Health & Safety and Clinical Services, you will help ensure engineering systems continue to support the delivery of safe and effective healthcare.
We are seeking an individual educated to degree level in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline, with significant experience in a complex engineering environment. You will possess a strong understanding of engineering compliance, governance and risk management, together with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Chartered Engineer (CEng) status, or professional membership of a relevant engineering institution, is desirable. However, we welcome applications from degree-qualified engineers who can demonstrate the knowledge, experience and professional capability required to succeed in this role.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a forward-thinking Facilities and Estates team and play a pivotal role in the management of engineering systems that directly impact patient safety and healthcare delivery across one of Scotland's largest and most complex healthcare estates.
