Job summary

Old Mutual Limited in Johannesburg seeks a Junior Underwriter to support underwriting administration and premium processing into the TIA system. You will manage electronic filing, renewal and claims reports, and assist on queries within the Sintelum Specialty Team.

Strong attention to detail, good MS Word/Excel skills, and ability to work under month-end pressure are essential. Matric or related diploma and 1 year admin/underwriting experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Matric including Maths or Accounting.
• Equivalent of 1 year diploma in administration or related fields.
• MS Office proficiency.
• 3 years underwriting administration experience (working with underwriters and underwriting documentation) – preferably with Financial Lines background.
• Experience using the TIA production system an advantage.

Responsibilities

• To ensure timeous and accurate processing of premium into TIA.
• Ensure electronic filing within TIA and the shared drives are up to date with all pertinent policy information.
• General administration, including renewal reports and claims reports, production reports at month end, assistance on credit control queries, and any other administration support, including schedules and wordings for the Sintelum Specialty Team.
• Negotiate and place reinsurance within SoP and mandates on relevant accounts.
• Review reinsurance documentation to ensure policy alignment and adherence to compliance standards.
• Assist Business Development Managers with investigation and resolution of account queries.
• Underwriting Assistant tasks to support underwriters with administrative duties.
