Placements24 is seeking a Junior Telecom Installation Technician to join our field team in Benoni, Gauteng. The role involves installing and commissioning voice, data, and broadband systems at residential and business sites, with travel across Benoni and surrounding Gauteng areas.

You will learn under experienced technicians and gain hands-on experience. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, a willingness to learn, and good manual dexterity.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Prior experience in a technical or field service role is advantageous but not essential.
• Basic understanding of telecommunications concepts and networking principles is a plus.
• Good manual dexterity and ability to work with tools.
• Strong customer service orientation and good communication skills.
• Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team.
• Physical ability to lift equipment, climb ladders, and work in various environmental conditions.
• A valid driver's license and a reliable mode of transport (or willingness to obtain one).
• Eagerness to learn and develop technical skills in the telecommunications field.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the installation and setup of telecommunication equipment, including routers, modems, set-top boxes, and associated cabling.
• Perform basic configuration of devices according to installation guidelines.
• Test installed equipment to ensure proper functionality and service activation.
• Troubleshoot and resolve minor installation-related issues.
• Provide basic customer support and education on installed services.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and ensure tools and equipment are well-maintained.
• Adhere to safety protocols and company procedures during all installations.
• Complete installation reports and submit them in a timely manner.
